Colorado ASA will be National Governing Body to sanction the softball portion of the NAIG 2006 games.

The 2006 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) will be a phenomenal celebration of sport and culture for North American Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island. The 2006 NAIG will be held July 2 - 9, 2006 in Denver and Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The First North American Indigenous Games were held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1990. Since then, there have been a total of five Games, four in Canada and one in Blaine, Minnesota (1995). The most recent Games held in Winnipeg, Canada in 2002 where almost 10,000 athletes, coaches and staff representing 27 teams from 15 states and 12 Provinces and Territories participated. Participation in the 2006 NAIG is expected to reach 10,000 Native athletes, 1,200 coaches & officials and 2,000 volunteers, with over 50,000 families and spectators participating in the Opening Ceremony at Invesco Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado.
